Share Your Story

Do you have a story to share? Our Community Journal is full of personal essays, stories, and practices from our community of readers. Submit your own original work and view our editor-selected favorites here.

Submission Guidelines

Are you an S&H reader? Do you have a story that needs to be told? Something that has improved or inspired your life, a process or practice to share, new insights or knowledge that the community needs to know? Share it with the community in S&H's new Our Community Journal!

While we are open to accepting original, quality, engaging non-fiction, essay or poetry pieces on any topic (as long as they are aligned with our current S&H content), we invite you to keep in mind our editorial calendar when crafting your pieces for submission. We will publish more stories to the web than in our print issues, but we'll try to publish a story in print that relates to our issue theme.

Note that we will not pay for these stories, but we will promote them to our email subscribers and social media audiences (and hope you do, too!)  and all authors we choose to publish either digitally and/or in print will receive an S&H membership or renewal for themselves and a friend.

To Submit:

Email your story (950 words is the maximum to be considered) as a .doc or .docx attachment to [email protected] with a suggested headline as the email subject. Within the body of your email, please include a brief summary of your piece, the issue theme your story is related to (if applicable), a 2-3 sentence bio about yourself, and a phone number and email address for communication.

Try to submit your story at least THREE months before the intended publication (as in, submit by December 1st for a March/April publication goal).

Thank you for being a valued part of the Spirituality & Health community!
