This meditation is a practice of honoring and acknowledging the range of complex sensations and emotions that may be present at any given moment.

You can’t heal what you can’t feel. This meditation is a practice of honoring and acknowledging the range of complex sensations and emotions that may be present at any given moment. Allowing ourselves to compassionately feel even the worst things, like anger, anxiety, pain, or grief, can help teach us that our bodies are safe zones to experience our pain and our emotions. When we do that, even the most intense sensations will frequently begin to soften.

We practice listening to the sensations in our bodies in the same way we’d listen to a best friend telling us what she’s going through—no judgment, no advice, just paying attention and letting her know we’ve got her back. In this way, we get better and better at befriending our own bodies.
