Pilates Workout: Strengthen Your Core and Improve Your Posture

I thought I had good posture until my first pilates class in L.A. With its system of stretching exercises developed 40 years ago by Joseph Pilates to strengthen the body, mobilize the spine and build flexibility, I quickly realized it's impossible to have good posture without a strong core.

My first few classes were challenging, as they forced me to work muscles I didn't even know I had. But after just a few sessions, I built strength, my belly began to flatten and with some effort, I was strong enough to sit up straight.

On this episode of Conscious Living TV, we bumped up our health regime with a week of destination fitness at Tecate, Mexico's famed Rancho La Puerta Resort & Spa. Our visit included a fun private session with top pilates instructor Nancy Parker, which gave me and my husband a take-home workout even beginner's can try at home.
