Last Chance for a Beach Dance

September is the best month to visit the spectacular Oregon coast and the last month to experience something extraordinary: Beach Dance at Cannon Beach. During each event, dancers are equipped with iPods that have an identical play list. After pressing the play button simultaneously, participants hear a variety of music selected to ensure that dancing is “inevitable, unavoidable, and utterly delightful,” says founder Lisa Evans. There are no “right” steps to learn. No previous dance experience is necessary and minimal instruction is given. Says Evans, “People are encouraged to dance according to how they feel, not how they think. Every participant dances [his or her] own original creation while maintaining a profound connection with the rest of the group.”
