Kundalini Yoga

2009 November-December

Healthy, Sexy, Beautiful

Gabrielle Pelicci

DVD, 63 minutes

Dr. Gabrielle Pelicci’s Kundalini Yoga: Healthy, Sexy, Beautiful provides a movement-oriented yoga workout designed to move toxins out of the body and help practitioners push through blocks or resistance in life. “Many forms of toxins, including muscle tension, negative thinking, heavy metals, alcohol, drugs, and so on, are stored in your body,” says Dr. Pelicci. “The more toxic you are, the more you will struggle with a restless mind, a stiff body, and unpleasant emotions.”

The one-hour session combines a rigorous yoga-based workout with relaxation and deep meditation and provides more than strength, flexibility, and endurance training for the body; it also leads to greater mental clarity, emotional balance, and relief from the pervasive stress of fast-paced living. “Kundalini yoga is called the yoga of awareness,” said Pelicci, and this workout is designed for beginners as well as advanced practitioners. Beautifully filmed, it treats practitioners to the sights and sounds of the seashore at various times of day or the solitary figure of Dr. Pelicci in various tones of light in a simple yoga studio. It leads to a place of serenity and well-being from which greater levels of healing can be accessed.

Recognized as one of the leading yoga instructors in Los Angeles, Dr. Pelicci has taught celebrities, athletes, models, and executives, as well as aspiring yoga teachers. She studied with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, from Golden Bridge Yoga in Los Angeles, who has taught Kundalini yoga, meditation, and pre- and post-natal care for over three decades.

Dr. Pelicci is on the faculty of the Personal and Professional Development Program at UCLA Extension, is an adjunct faculty member in the Transformational Leadership Program at the California Institute of Integral Studies, an instructor for the UCLA Health System Ethics Center, a teacher for several Kundalini yoga teacher trainings, and has extensive training in massage therapy and yoga therapy. She has worked as an independent consultant and instructor for high-end treatment centers, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, wellness centers, and private clients, and has traveled the world extensively to study different cultural approaches to healing.
