The sun, the cold, the stressors of life, and environmental damage can all wreak havoc on our skin. There comes a time for most of us, when we start to notice changes in our skin from exposure to all of it, and wonder if there is anything we can do to mitigate the changes we see in the mirror.
What is it?
DERMA E, who has been around for decades, and has a strong commitment to creating eco-friendly products, has come out with a line of firming creams. I sat down to try the firming DMAE moisturizer and the firming DMAE eye lift. The moisturizer includes alpha lipoic acid and C-ester, and is a rich cream that does not have much scent and easily absorbed into my skin. The eye lift was much lighter, and also was essentially scent-free. Both products note that there may be individuals who have a reaction to the ingredients, and suggest doing a patch test. I appreciated this reminder, and though my skin is not extra sensitive to most product, I did notice a mild tingling, which they say on the packaging is normal.
Does it work?
Both products were quickly absorbed, and left my skin feeling quite soft. I am only beginning to notice a loss of elasticity in my skin, and there was no noticeable firming after just a few applications (DERMA E notes that products should be used 3 weeks before noticeable difference). I do, however, believe in prevention, and I think it’s worth giving my skin some extra love and support before it gets past the point of no return.
Part of aging beautifully is embracing ourselves no matter what. We can give ourselves the gift of self care and self love by taking the time to nourish our skin, to pay attention and give care. Ideally that nourishment can slow the effects of a life well lived, and offer us the opportunity to connect with ourselves at the end of each day.
